Work/Life Balance: 3 Habits To Bring Into 2022

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy for us to place more importance on ‘being productive’ or 'earning money than our own wellbeing. And it makes sense, considering that as a society, people tend to be valued by capitalistic measures. But what happens when we don’t consider other kinds of contributions or attentiveness equally? Mental problems and physical exhaustion are widespread and becoming even more common as byproducts of work-oriented lifestyles. And while self-care these days often gets mistaken for bubblebaths, face masks and shopping sprees, we believe it has a lot more to do with being persistent in the goal of achieving work/life balance and carving out space for yourself to grow on your own terms. Here are some of our favorite practices and things to consider to help work towards the work-life balance we all need to live a healthy and happy life.

Give Value to Your Time, Money, and Resources

Every day, people around you ask for your time or resources, often distracting you from your own life's priorities. This is why we love starting the day out alone with no email, and in silence. Taking just 15 minutes in the morning to write down the three essential things that you hope to accomplish during the day can be a massive game changer. And as requests start coming your way throughout the day, assess how they impact your priorities before you reply with an automatic yes.

The same goes for the self-employed, when someone asks you about your fee and services. The primary objective of self-care is to give and honor the value, contribution, and impact you make on those around you. So make sure you value your time, money, and resources as much as you love your work. In our opinion, that’s about as close as one can get to actual work/life balance.

Give yourself a break

Often, we are our own harshest critics, especially when the concept of perfectionism gets a hold of our inner working mechanism. We become so engrossed that we question everything and everyone, which creates unbearable mental pressure. So, even us professional individuals need to give ourselves a break and find individual ways to relax our minds and bodies. One of our favorite ways to do this is to take short walks throughout the day, no longer than 15 minutes at a time. It’s a great way to change scenery, gain perspective, and get a little break. We also love a good mini meditation - either guided on podcasts or youtube, or via the Hoffman Process. A quick stretch can also do wonders, helping to release endorphins which can actually re-stimulate your brain.

Since the legalization of marijuana, vaporizers have also become a new favorite of hard-working folks. Aside from the destigmatization of cannabis, one of the main reasons for its growing popularity is that it provides the consumer with a healthier way to relax the mind and body. Moreover, with vaping, you get a potentially healthier and safer way to take in cannabis in small, controlled amounts. You can click to find out more information on vaping devices (such as Yocan dab pens and others) and find what you need. Additionally, regular use of medical marijuana can provide you with long-lasting health benefits that will help you live a longer, healthier life.

Find Good People on Your Way to Success

A great practice that you can use in finding a work-life balance is to surround yourself with good and supportive people. See if your team is giving you enough leverage and assistance to meet the goals you set. Also, find the people with whom you feel more energetic than the ones who drain you - and avoid the drainers like the plague. Set boundaries with those who drain your energy. This way, you see more power in accomplishing your day-to-day task without feeling tired or exhausted.
