4 Ways To Start Preparing Your Home for Spring Now
For many people, January and February feel like the longest months because they typically represent the end of winter - and the end of all the fun holidays, let’s be honest. But starting on the spring time prep is a great way to make them months to look forward to (or at least help them feel shorter). Here are a few things you can do to get ready for more sun, flowers, and pre-summer festivities.
Perform Thorough Inspections
While not the most thrilling, the first thing on the list should probably be ensuring vital systems are running efficiently before springtime approaches. For example irrigation, gutters, and AC units, in case of a hot spring day. Clean and service the unit to make sure it’s ready to handle the unpredictable weather that spring brings. Keeping an eye on what roof repairs might be needed come warmer weather isn’t a bad idea to start thinking about now either.
Prepare Your Closet
Although it’s still winter, you can start cleaning out your closet and bringing out spring clothes to prepare for the warmer days ahead. There’s nothing like seeing the promise of warmer days ahead in our wardrobe to put a Spring in our step - pun intended.
Declutter the Home Before Spring Clean
Throughout winter, it’s easier to let holiday gifts, food, and other household items clutter the home because we’re inside more often.
Instead of waiting until “spring cleaning” time, start decluttering and cleaning your home now. Personally, we practice the Chinese New Year traditions of discarding or fixing broken items, getting rid of unused items, finishing up home projects, and deep cleaning the floors before the Chinese New Year.
Update Outdoor Space
Okay, we know it’s still cold outside, but there are still many ways to update your outdoor space and prepare your home’s exterior for spring.
Preparing for spring means getting your deck ready for more BBQs, company, and quiet mornings. Be sure to complete the proper checklist to update your outdoor space!
