Basic Ways To Reduce Travel Stress
Traveling can be fun but it can also be filled with stressful situations and circumstances that we want to avoid. For instance, hundreds of thousands of pieces of luggage are lost every year. So, how can we dodge high stress situations and keep relatively cool on our next trip? Here are the things we did recently to make our flight significantly less stressful.
Arrive Early
First make sure to arrive early. Like way early. One of the things that can cause stress levels to build when traveling is when everything feels like a mad rush. No one wants to spend hours waiting at an airport for a plane to take off. However, it’s far worse if you arrive late and have to dash to your gate. The general rule is that you need to arrive an hour or so early for a national flight and about three hours before an international flight. But with Covid and flight issues, we suggest adding an extra half hour to hour. Don’t worry, there’s always going to be plenty of things to do at an airport these days. Plus, a little extra walking is a great way to wear out kiddos pre-flight.
Plan a Schedule
If everyone knows what they are doing and when they are doing it then everything will have a much higher chance of going smoothly. Having a written schedule helps ensure this happens and nobody ends up stressing about being somewhere at a certain time. It is essential that everything is packed and ready to go when you need to leave - or rather - the night before. Pack the night before and leave everything that you are taking in one place. Making lists is also essential - we like to write out every to do for the morning of departure, as truth is, our brains are usually fried by around then.
Pack Covid Tests and Extra Masks
Peace of mind is everything - and when traveling, it’s a good idea to be able to test often and easily. The same goes for bringing extra masks - when things get frazzled and masks go missing, there’s literally nothing more frustrating.
Try Calming Supplements
Lots of elements of traveling cause people stress and anxiety. Some people are nervous fliers and others absolutely hate the crowds found in holiday hot spot destinations. While there’s very little way you can avoid getting on a plane when traveling, there are steps that you can take to ensure things are a lot easier for yourself. For instance, you might want to try products like CBD oil. A little oil on the tongue can be just what you need to ensure that your troubles and worries melt away before you board a plane. CBD is also legal in the vast majority of places so you shouldn’t need to worry about packing this in your suitcase for other stressful times during a vacation as well.
Manage Spending
Make sure that spending is being done the right way. Aim to save a little more than you think you’ll need and keep some cash on hand for emergencies. There are some great apps that make planning a budget for trips a breeze. We also like to set aside a little ‘whatever’ money - a small fund that can be applied to just making life easier along the road -whether that be a couple extra uber rides, airport snacks to appease the littles, or paying for an extra hand with luggage, etc.
