Best Indoor Plants for Your Desk and Office

Is your office looking and feeling a little dim? Brighten up your desk and place of work with a beautiful indoor plant, whether it’s at home or in an office! Not every plant species can survive living in indoor offices, so I’ve compiled a list of the best indoor plants for your desk and office to help!

Devil’s Ivy (Epipremnum Aureum)

It may have a sinister name, but a Devil’s Ivy plant makes for a beautiful addition to any desk, whether it’s at home or an office. This evergreen vine grows large, heart-shaped leaves in various colors, so you can get one that matches your office’s décor!

I like the Devil’s Ivy because it’s easy to care for and adapt well to offices, even if you don’t have much direct sunlight to offer. They’re generally small specimens, ideal for desks and windowsills, but you can also opt for larger species that grow around poles or cranes to bring more color to the office!

Zamioculcas Zamiifolia

Also known as the ZZ plant, ZZ may have a complicated name, but it’s straightforward to maintain. The fat stalks and bulging roots of the ZZ store tons of water, so you don’t have to tend to it much—and if you forget, it’s not a big deal.

The ZZ plant is also suitable for places that don’t get a ton of sunlight, and it doesn’t require fertilizer or attract pests. It’s practically made to sit at your desk!

Swiss Cheese Plant (Monstera)

I like to have a larger plant in my office’s corner to add to the natural décor as well, and if you do too, consider a Swiss Cheese Plant! Don’t worry—this plant won’t make your office smell like cheese all day! Its name comes from its unique leaves, which feature holes in the middle for capturing light, just like Swiss cheese!

The Swiss Cheese Plant can grow practically anywhere with little to no light and doesn’t require much water, but you will want to give it some house plant food approximately every month.

Snake Plant (Sansevieria)

One of the most unique-looking species is the Sansevieria, otherwise known as the Snake Plant. The Snake Plant is a succulent that features waxy, thick leaves that sprout upwards, almost giving them the appearance of snakes.

The appeal of the Snake Plant is both its fascinating look and its tolerant nature. You only have to water a Sansevieria periodically—it’s better to err on the dry side, as this plant can last up to a month without water.

I hope my list of favorite indoor plants for your home and office has given you some inspiration! Which plant will be the first to call your desk or office home?
