Injecting Personality Into Interior Design

Many people enjoy the idea of having a home completely unique to every other design, free of all ‘stock’ decor one might source from the local or chain furnishing store. However, it can be hard to pin down what the concept of personal style really is - especially when applying it to our own spaces. Even professional interior designers start with a theme, a style and a cohesive sense of aesthetics in order to bring harmony and identity to a space. So how do we make it truly, authentically ours? Often, it starts with a leap of faith.

Remodels & Furnishings

The modeling fixtures we use to format and furnish a space can denote taste and offer a strong thesis for the kind of home aesthetic we’re going for. Kitchen remodeling, for instance, is often best when a range of sturdy, contemporary materials are implemented, such as marble or varnished worktops; as well as how certain appliances are situated, such as if the refrigerator or dishwasher are left to be free-standing or if they’ve been clad with the wider remodel furnishing.

Lighting Fixtures

While lighting fixtures have the primary function of illuminating a space, they are also a massive anchor point for the aesthetic story of a room. A large overhead light with an ornate chandelier-like furnishing is a great way to go out on a limb style wise while maintaining a more neutral or harmonious look for the rest of the room. Embedded lights offer a minimal, clean look that allows the eye to focus on the other highlights of a room, allowing for an opportunity to invest in unique decor items like sculptures, artwork, etc.

Utilitarian Design

How we design a home also speaks to the utility we require of it. For instance, how we furnish a kitchen will dictate how we cook in it, from how comfortable we are with convection cooking to what kind of smart appliances we use.
