Our Favorite End-Of-Year Gifts For Teachers

After the way the last few years have gone, the tradition of an end-of-year gift for one’s teachers has never been more appropriate. But what to gift a teacher? Outside of what you might know about them personally to help put your own spin on things, here are some of our favorite ideas.

Plants and Flowers

We love going in for a nice potted plant. Hit up the local nursery and look for a healthy plant that has an unusual blossom and needs very little maintenance. That way, even if the teacher doesn’t have green fingers, all they have to do is water it periodically. A vase of fresh, colorful flowers is another great alternative. Choosing a unique container can make it feel extra special and then reused as well.

School Stationery

Teachers often say that they always run out of school stationery even when supplied by the school. As supplies are often limited, they also tend to share amongst students or other teachers, so they are always happy to have more. A few pencils that have been labelled with the educator’s name are a nice touch. Add some bright post-its, highlighters, sharpeners, and red pens, and a nice memo pad to finish it off.

Cozy Giftpack

Thank a special teacher with a cozy bundle - think slippers, scented candles, luxurious bath salts, quality coffees and teas or a box of chocolates. When dealing with food, however, make sure to consider your school’s allergy rules and regulations, as these can vary greatly per school. Additionally, if you know that a teacher has sugar concerns or diabetes, there are still some sweet treats you can include.

For an Ultra-Special Teacher

If a teacher has gone the extra mile and made an impact in your child’s life, you may feel you want to give something more than you would to other teachers. Computer gifts for teachers are ideal if you want to spend a little bit more and show deep appreciation. Pair this up with a great tote bag that is voluminous enough to hold the teacher’s laptop, lunch, students’ books to mark, and textbooks. Preferably it will have some inner pockets that seal for valuables such as car keys and a wallet.

An Apple a Day - Or All At Once

Our favorite gift ever? Buy a pretty basket separately and arrange it with fresh fruit and a fancy ribbon. Opt for firm fruit that won’t become overripe before they have time to enjoy it. Slide in a jar of apple or grape jam for good measure and you’ve got yourself quite the personalized gift.

Books

Most teachers, especially of younger students, build up a fairly large personal library for their classrooms - and one more is always welcomed. Personalize it with a message written by your child inside the front cover. Even if they already have a particular book, doubles are never bad. There are bound to be several little ones eager to read it.
