RED LACE AND NUDE PUMPS
With the houses and moving, and more recently with Mao not feeling so great, it's been a while since Nikko and I had a chance to take a day to ourselves. So this weekend, we put aside a day to stop by all our favorite places in Palm Springs and then some.
I of course wore red, both because of Valentine's Day and because of Chinese New Year, which is today. I also wore my new coordinates cuff, with San Francisco's coordinates - because with everything that has been going on, I've been feeling a little homesick for certain things, especially family (ok, and food - super missing Enjoy Vegetarian in the Sunset in SF). I never count New Year's as the real start to the New Year. For me, the real new year always starts with Chinese New Year. This is partly because I've grown up always celebrating Chinese New Year as an important holiday, thanks to my Chinese side, but also because it's convenient, considering most years start off a little shaky before they become awesome. Having a month and some change as a buffer means you get to a second chance to make things go the way you want them to.
Out of any year, this is one where I could really use a second chance. After a fabulous first few days, we got off to a really rough start thanks to El Nino and some other things, to put it lightly. But I'm hoping that Chinese New Year brings the fresh start I'm looking for!
Make sure to eat long noodles and oranges today for good luck, and happy Chinese New Year!
