Many of us feel relieved to see spring coming up on the calendar after a dark, slushy winter. We’re glad to be able to put away our snow boots, that’s for sure. But with the advent of spring comes a whole host of annoyances! Here are the top five reasons people don’t like spring. If you’re among us naysayers, you’ll find some sweet validation below.

Bugs

When those beautiful flowers start to open for the season, they attract a host of pesky little friends. Get re-accustomed to the smell of bug spray. Also, if you’re one of the millions of Americans with a bee allergy, make sure that EpiPen is in your bag. From mosquitoes and flies to wasps and yellow jackets, all our tiniest enemies are on the prowl once again. Gross.

Allergies

Many people suffer from seasonal allergies, and pollen is a significant cause of this. Once trees and other plants start budding for the season, that nasty yellow dust fills the air. Have your seasonal sneezes come back? Get in touch with a specialist and squash those symptoms now with environmental allergy treatments. You want early relief since allergens will be around for a few months.

Daylight Savings

We lose a whole hour every spring! That’s an entire hour of Sunday-morning sleep we won’t get back until the fall. Most smartphones change the time automatically. But we still need to adjust the other time-keeping devices manually. These include bedside clocks, car clocks, and microwave clocks. It’s annoying and puts us in a bad mood.

Inconsistent Weather

How are we supposed to dress for a spring day? Should we wear shorts but carry around a winter coat just in case? Forget about it. The weather changes on a dime several times a day. Carrying sunglasses, a scarf, and an umbrella around every day is a pain. We often wish that the weather would decide what it wants to do definitively.

Taxes

Ah, April 15th—a day no one looks forward to. Starting in January, we all gripe about paperwork and put our math skills to the ultimate test. We curse our shoddy organization and promise to do better next year. Then after it’s all mailed off, we look at our return check and wish it were bigger. It’s an annual hassle that’s going to keep coming year after year during spring.

If you’re grouchy about spring every year, you’re not alone. Don’t feel like a killjoy—we all have little annoyances in life, and some of them just happen to be seasonal. There are plenty of reasons people don’t like spring. However, you can also see the positives in that time of year after identifying what irks you.
