TRAVEL DIARY: TORONTO #3
What are the things that make a place feel like home? Routines, little rituals and small comforts are a big part of feeling at home for me, especially when I'm traveling. We started almost every morning in Toronto with a quick run to Sovereign Cafe for a 157. It was such a great way to add a little stability to our days, many of which included jaunts all over the city.
One of my favorite things to do when I go to a new city is to find a local park and take in the natural surroundings. It's a ritual that makes me feel grounded, no matter where I am. Last year, Nikko took me to Toronto Island, and, despite the rain (does it always rain when we are in Toronto?), we had an amazing day. This time, we headed over to Hyde Park.
The park itself has a little bit of a Golden Gate Park vibe, except a quieter and smaller (not that it's that small). It also kind of reminded me of a park Nikko and I stumbled upon in Sydney so many years ago, after spending a cramped night on a very tiny train. I'll never forget how incredible it felt to stretch out our legs on a park bench, overlooking the water.
Lately, I've found myself reflecting on one place as we prepare to head off to another. We're on our way back to Cactus Mountain today and I can't wait to get back! Talk soon...
xx,
Tienlyn
