Give Your Property The WOW Factor
It’s a great feeling to come home to a place that you are proud of and that looks welcoming and attractive. It is also an amazing feeling to have other people compliment you on the way your home looks and feels. And while funneling a ton of money into our space is definitely one way to up the wow factor, with the right strategy, we can achieve an aspirational, beautiful living space with a few targeted tweaks - regardless of what type of building we live in.
Pay particular attention to your windows and doors
Be aware that if you are living in a listed property or a conservation area, you may have restrictions on what you can actually do to your property and how you can update or modernize it. However, if you are living in a relatively new build, it could be entirely up to you.
A lot of houses are built with wooden window frames, even though the glass is double glazed. However, wooden-framed windows require a lot of upkeep, and in time you may want to replace them with a more modern option with very little (or no) maintenance, especially if you don’t have much time on your hands.
If, for example, you live in or around the Shrewsbury area, you may wish to look into uPVC windows Shrewsbury to see what kind of design is available to you and how much it could cost for your windows to be changed to a low-maintenance type, while still being able to sustain your home’s current look.
When assessing your front door, ensure that it is clean and that, if it is of the painted variety, there are no chips or damage to the paintwork.
Spruce up your garden
Curb appeal can go a long way - even if you’re not thinking of selling.
You do not have to get a landscape gardener involved unless, of course, you want to; nor do you have to have acres and acres of frontage. Curb appeal can be obtained even if your frontage is only a meter deep and you have pots of plants rather than a well-manicured lawn.
Most people find a splash of color among lots of green foliage very pleasing to the eye, and this can be easily achieved even if you are just using hanging baskets on either side of your front door.
A nicely presented nameplate or perfectly buffed house numbers and door furniture on a clean and tidy front door can also add to the look. If you are lucky enough to have a porch, regardless of whether it is an open one or a glazed affair, it should be kept clean, well painted or stained if it is of a wooden variety, and well clear of cobwebs. Outside lighting is generally seen as being desirable, too.
Obviously, if you do have a large front garden, making sure that it stays clean and tidy with well-kept borders and lawn or paving goes without saying, though this can, for some properties, be more like a full-time job, so be sure that you are able to invest the required amount of time.
