Modernism Week: Fall Preview 2018
I am so excited for Modernism Week Fall Preview, which starts this coming week! It snuck up on me so quickly this year - in fact, so did the entire fall season. I’m also a little extra excited about this year’s Fall Preview, because it’s the first time we will be attending as Palm Springs residents.
These are a few shots we took from last Modernism Week at The O’Donnell House. While this house isn’t my interior style, it was actually one of my favorite houses I’ve seen on any tour (second to the Frey House II which still stands as my #1). There is just a feeling about this place that you can’t quite put your finger on.
In some ways, it reminds me of the house I grew up in and later renovated with Nikko in Palo Alto. It’s an older house that’s rich with history, set higher up on the mountain, apart from the everyday vibrance of downtown Palm Springs. When you’re here, you get the quiet and utter and total feeling of oneness with the desert back. There is a complete sense of peace and reflection. It’s the feeling of the house I grew up in, and it’s the feeling that Nikko and I chased to the desert three years ago.
Modernism Week Fall Preview starts in just a few short days, and there are definitely some great events that still have openings. Take a look HERE in case you’re interested in attending. Hopefully I will see you out there!
