The Most Photogenic Places to Visit in London

One of our favorite things to do while traveling is to snap away at the beautiful settings that surround us. With London chock full of photogenic streets, buildings, gardens and more, it’s one of our favorite place to take some visual souvenirs by way of camera. Here are our top spots to visit.

The Houses of Parliament

The Houses of Parliament is a fascinating place. For most people, taking a guided tour is the best way to get the most out of their visit. You can find out about a few of them here.

Photography inside the Houses of Parliament is restricted. But that is not a problem because from a distance it looks at its most impressive. To get the best shots head to the South Bank.

Big Ben

While you are there take some shots of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben (which stands right next to it).

Tower Bridge

Then, walk for 15 minutes along the bank of the Thames to More London on Tooley Street and pause to take some distance shots of Tower Bridge. Then continue and take a few photos from either end of the bridge. Restaurants

There is no shortage of places to eat in this busy city. Including some restaurants that have spectacular views of the capital. For example, both The River Café and Le Pont de la Tour are fantastic places from which to photograph The Thames.

We also suggest that you use this list to visit some of the most instagrammable restaurants in London. The owners of these establishments have invested a lot of time and money into creating something different and special for their patrons to enjoy. Some, like Bob Bob Ricard, whisk their diners back in time. Others, like Circolo, transport them to another country. While some, like Ave Mario in Covent Garden, invite you into a space that is unlike anything you have seen before. All of them are wonderfully photogenic.

Wildlife in some of London´s Parks

London is home to several beautiful parks. These green spaces are full of wildlife. Spending a day wandering around them taking photographs is a wonderful way to decompress and get some memorable shots. Use this guide to help you to do that.

Visit Greenwich Park

If you want to combine photographing nature with getting some shots of London´s iconic buildings, head to Greenwich Park. It is home to the Greenwich Observatory. From the Lookout, you can get a wonderful shot of London´s skyline.

The Ranger´s House and gardens are especially photogenic when the roses are in bloom. As is the stunning cherry blossoms avenue in mid-April.

Book yourself a hotel room with a view

There are thousands of hotel rooms in London, some of which offer you fantastic views of the city from your room. Providing you with the opportunity to take your time, frame your shots and get some unique photos of the city.

Here are just a few examples.:

·   Shangri-La, The Shard - this hotel operates the highest hotel bar in London, from which there are good views. Many of the rooms also have views of Big Ben, The London Eye, St Paul´s Cathedral, the Thames, the Tower of London, and The Gherkin.

·   London Marriot, County Hall - from most of the rooms you can see the river, Big Ben, Westminster Bridge, and the London Eye.

·   The Savoy - this hotel offers views of St Paul´s, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, The Shard, Oxo Tower, and the river

·   Novotel London, Canary Wharf - magnificent views from most rooms, plus there is a rooftop bar that offers 360-degree views of the city

Get out on the water

Many of London’s most iconic sights can be seen and photographed from a boat on the river. There are plenty of companies offering trips that will take you both up and down the Thames.

If you enjoy spending time on the water and taking photos, hop onto the Waterbus from Regent’s Park to Camden. It takes you past London Zoo, which is a particularly interesting place to photograph from the water.
