Tips for Creating a Comfy Home All Year
If you err on the homebody side, you get the appeal of throwing on the PJs right after the day is over, diming the lights, and relaxing with a good book, some good food, and maybe a lil’ Netflix. Even when we decide to go out, the best part is often coming back to an inviting spot that we created within our homes. So considering, here are some tips for turning your home into a comfortable, inviting space all year round.
Turn Down the AC
When there’s more than one person in a household, there are often disputes when it comes to the ideal temp. Investing in a multi-zone mini split system to adjust to individual areas of the house is a game changer. This system allows you to cool down key rooms without the stress of high energy bills during the summer. And when it comes to fall and winter, there’s something wonderful about curling up with a blanket and coffee on cold mornings and leaving the heat off. There’s something about this activity that’s reminiscent of a cabin in the mountains, regardless of where we are.
Put Up Paintings
Paintings and pictures are lovely additions to any room, but they also create a pleasant and appealing environment, and also make a space feel more like home. Personally, we like to opt for artwork that has a personal touch, such as gifted paintings from family members, or work from a special moment, perhaps with a personal connection or story behind them. Hanging original paintings in the house also makes a home feel even homier and like family is close by. That’s why this is one of our favorite tips for creating a comfortable home all year round. Even if you choose not to hang paintings, tastefully displayed pictures of favorite memories around your space are always a way to warm it up.
Take Care Of External Spaces Of Your Home
While some of us want to stay most of our time indoors, outdoor areas like porches and gardens are crucial to a comfortable home year round. Creating a warm and comfortable interior space, you need to also focus your energies on external spaces of your home. For example, if you have a garden and a driveway that leads up to your home, you need to get a contractor and install a driveway drain as soon as possible. This will help beautify the space and make it more pleasant to enjoy as well as help you drain additional water that can cause damage to the asphalt.
Favor Warm Lighting
Warm lighting is a great way to encourage relaxation. Had a long day? Soak in the tub with some candles and a glass of wine. Going out? Turn on the vanity lights while you do your makeup. In fact, we believe in the philosophy that instead of doing anything to your looks cosmetically, just adjust the lighting!
At night, nothing is cozier than turning on a corner light and cuddling up with a good book or engaging in your favorite activity. No matter what, warm lighting is a perfect way to help you decompress.
